DEAD lines

Finished with some deadlines for the time being...some many more to come. This reminds me of what Linkin Park once said in place for my head,

"I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest"

Well life is like that. Tensions, greed and restlessness. Lets see what is in the package for me!

The ring

The ring. Its simple and round but complex to understand. A ring is like a woman. You think you can hold the symmetry or forge the symmetry but at the end you end up at the same place where you began. Her heart is unexplainable and unfathomable.

I cant explain it in words.

Keys

Heard this insightful conversation between a couple. Here is the scene. They got engaged a cpl of weeks ago and recently had a fight.

guy: ".....why do you wanna ruin the whole thing? If you play your cards right, you can get the keys to the palace. It can be us and all happiness. Why are you breaking my heart? "

gal: "I don't want any keys. I think I am losing it. You are a nice guy, but we cant be together. Now i want somebody else. See...I told you...or I thought so"

May be I should not be writing or talking about them on the internet. But then I was worried about that guy. He looked decent and rich. May be he owns a palace who knows. He was depressed and down. She left and he stayed back. I think he wanted to cry or shout at all of us. He maintained his cool. Our eyes met a couple of times and each time we saw each other I was learning something about him. He taught me a whole new way of looking into life. He grabbed a quick vodka shot and another and another. I think he called her up and was trying to explain her or convince her about the relation"ship". It was sinking. I could see it. Its hurt bad and about to sink in a couple of moments. He was still cool. He was a bit drunk than his usual limit. I could see that. He was smiling and crying at the same time. His dark gray shirt was quenching its thirst by swallowing his tears. His eyes, they were a rich source of knowledge. He was saying everything to everyone around him through his eyes about his life yet he remained silent. A passing waitress brought him something in a small paper packet. I think he refused to take it. But she insisted. I think they are acquaintances. It looked as this guy is a regular visitor. He took it. She said something in his ear and patted on his shoulder. He thanked her. He asked for one more drink. 10 more minutes. Nothing much was happening. I stopped bothering about my work. The paper I was reading. I lost count of the number of minutes I have been tracing this guy. Craig. Thats what she called him. I remember now. 20 more minutes. All I was worried about was what's gonna happen to him tomorrow. He finally opened the little packet. His expressions told me that what he saw was the last thing he expected. It was like the final blow a tiger gives its prey. It was like the shot achilles got on his feel. I could see the pain in his eyes again. Now its amplitude was much bigger. Bigger than what I saw sometime ago when she left.

The small packet had something which i was excited about but he was not. In fact he finally lost it. The waitress came again and picked him up. I think he broke into tears. She hugged him and took him out. It was late august so the weather was good outside. He was still dull. I could see him and the waitress through the glass door. He was saying something with a lot of anguish. The lady was nodding her head. She was supporting him. I think she was asking him to be strong. He unlocked his car with his remote. The lights of his car flashed as if they were asking him to rule the roads. The waitress denied him of the right. She quickly grabbed his keys. He was arguing but she looked as if she was not interested. She opened the main door and yelled "....I am taking Craig out. Will be back in 10". Nothing much happened then. Everyone was doing their work. I forgot what I was doing. I came back to my senses and saw my laptop screen. A couple of new emails. I marked them read. I was not interested in them. The one thing I cared about was Craig. 6 minutes passed. But nothing was happening. I asked for a coffee. I finished it. Finally they came back after 15 minutes. He was much better now than the way he looked some 20 minutes ago. He opened that little white envelope and dropped something in it. The waitress came again and he gave the packet to her.

Now they split officially. Relationships are crazy.

openmoko-mac update

One crazy thing about mac comes when it assigns enX to a device. A weird experience i had was it stopped assigning my FR an interface after some n connections. i.e it started assigning en2 for the first time I connected and stopped assigning at en9 which i guess is the limit for the devices.

Now what to do was a big problem because you can connect the device but nothing actually happens. So in order to make it work again. you have to remove the unused interfaces and let FR use the unused ones. To do that perform the following steps

goto Macintosh HD->library->preferences->SystemConfiguration

you will find a file called NetworkInterfaces.plist

backup this file like copy it at some different location an delete it. Now restart the macbook and connect the device. You can observe that the device gets connected at en2. Voila

Mac OS X and Neo Forerunner Openmoko

1.Connecting your macbook and openmoko phone

I am using a macbook 2.2Ghz, 4GB OS X Leopard 10.5.6
When you connect your openmoko, your mac will recognize it as an (en) device.
Terminal type :

sudo ifconfig enX 192.168.0.200 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
enter your password:

Here X is the interface number.

try pinging onto your neo now.
ping 192.168.0.202

now ssh onto your neo
ssh root@192.168.0.202
password : ( is mokey7 by default)
Once you login you can change it to any by issuing passwd

now ping to your mac which is 192.168.0.200
This procedure ensures a 2 way connection.

2. Connecting to wifi
If you are on a mac, the good news is that you can share the internet with you FR. You can use the internet sharing option available in OS X and let your FR access the internet from your macbook.

On your macbook:
Goto System Preferences->Sharing-> Internet Sharing
Here check the Internet sharing option and select the following
Share your connection from is the source. If wireless it can be your Airport. To Computers using will be your enX . Check that.

Now the only 1 thing remaining is assigning the nameserver for the FR.

SSH into your Neo and create /etc/resolv.conf, specify your Internet router IP address as the name server.
Example:
nameserver 192.168.1.200 # replace by your real nameserver address

- or-

You can simply copy the /etc/resolv.conf from your Mac.
scp /etc/resolv.conf root@192.168.0.202:/etc/resolv.conf

Note: Remember to backup your resolv.conf on your FR before doing anything.
cp /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf.backup

Make sure your Neo routing table has entries so that all internet traffic is sent to your Mac (which will forward it to the outside world)

root@om-gta02:/etc# route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 usb0
default 192.168.0.200 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 usb0

root@om-gta02:/etc# ping www.google.com
PING www.google.com (64.233.169.147): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 64.233.169.147: seq=0 ttl=238 time=213.148 ms
64 bytes from 64.233.169.147: seq=1 ttl=238 time=218.653 ms
64 bytes from 64.233.169.147: seq=2 ttl=238 time=200.884 ms
Don't forget to enable your USB interface for Internet Sharing!

Voila. Please mail me if I missed something.

Does Amazon need all that craze?

Yes and No.

Yes because i got some good stuff for real cheap price.

No because some of their recommendations are ridiculous like a nikon battery for my sony camera.

And No again coz..I am recession hit and the gigs out there are luring me a lot.

Wired...

Back with a bang. But whats the bang and who is back. Well its the same old me trying to pull audience by writing about some real crazy things i do.

Well this is for wireless novices anyways. So if you are one, hmm , go ahead read it and have fun. Else go, pick a donut and watch TV.

Last week I was at my friends house and was trying to connect to their local wireless. Fortunately none of them knew the password thanks to the " rememeber my password " option. Now the deal was to change this password which is a needy tool.

So lemme give out the recipe. You guys can print this out.

Step 1: Connect your computer/Laptop to your internet modem through an Ethernet(LAN)wire. So the wires are as follows. Modem to wireless router connection. wireless router to laptop through LAN wire.

Step 2: Open your web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1. A pop up window would appear with user name and password. As we don't know the password nothing to do here.

Step 3: Now comes the crucial step. find the reset button on your wireless router and keep pressing it for a minute.

Step 4: repeat step 2. Now it would not ask for a password instead it will as for some administrative options like wireless name and password.

Step 5: Similarly it will ask for admin password. This is for the wireless administration. we use this password for the 192.168.1.1. The username is admin.

Thats it. We can password any number of times now and its still fine.

HAVE FUN.
Big Sandy.

Did I write them?

A couple of weeks ago, frustration and headache brought the poet out of me. I wrote some arbitrary bullshit and called them poems. They were haiku. But then I lost those sheets which possessed my imaginative wealth. I suspect Gayatree has them because she reminds me of those poems with her witty remarks ("They were very .... "). I thought i was the only pervert/poet to think like that. Thank god I am not the only one. Today I read Srikar's blog and guess what he wrote something similar to my lyrics except the fact that he can be a novelist whereas I kill time writing.

Find Srikar's thoughts in here

@Gayatree: If you find any similarities between what we write, its sheer coincidence and nothing personal.

Finally I am getting older. age=age+1. Happy bday to me.

Hi Folks ! Reading this could tickle your funny bone ! Beware

For many years molecular biologists have been mystified by the fact that very
little of an organism's DNA seems to serve any useful function. The reason why only 30% of human DNA performs any useful function is that the rest of it is comments.

Once we decode a typical human genome, we see that the contents begin as
follows:

* 0000-00-03 02:11 1.2 Added penis code to male version. A bit messy --
* will require a rewrite later on to make it neater.

* 0017-03-12 03:14 1.3 Added extra sex drive to male.h; took code from
* elephant-dna.c
* 0145-10-03 16:33 1.4 Removed tail.
* 1115-00-31 17:20 1.5 Shortened forearms, expanded brain case.

* 2091-08-20 13:56 1.6 Opposable thumbs added to hand() routine.
* 2501-04-09 14:04 1.7 Minor cosmetic improvements -- skin colour made
* darker to match my own image.
* 2909-07-12 02:21 1.8 Dentition inadequate; added extra 'wisdom' teeth.

* Must remember to make mouth bigger to compensate.
* 4501-12-31 14:18 1.9 Increase average height.
* 5533-02-12 17:09 2.0 Added gay option, triggered by high population
